Christianity 101 @ PCF – Part 2: Who is God?

The Paulden Christian Fellowship midweek Bible study beginning in July 2026 went through the Statement of Faith for a deep dive into why we believe the things we believe and how to respond to questions and challenges.

This is Part 2: Who is God?

Keep in mind that there is information that only comes out through the discussion, but the blanks on the worksheets can be filled in with the included notes.

VerseD: Exodus 33:14

Then He replied, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

Exodus 33:14, HCSB

We love God by obeying His commands and seeking Him in prayer and faith, and He promises to be with us by the Holy Spirit and give rest to our minds, souls, and even our bodies at times.

VerseD: 2Corinthians 9:6

Remember this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously.

2 Corinthians 9:6, HCSB

We love God by living a life of obedience and sacrifice just as our Lord did, loving each other and giving of our time, money, and possessions to spread His glory and affect this world.

VerseD: Psalm 19:14

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14, HCSB

We love God by dwelling on His Word, sharing the gospel, and trusting Him through prayer, obedience, and fellowship with the Church.

VerseD: Galatians 1:10

For am I now trying to win the favor of people, or God? Or am I striving to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ.

Galatians 1:10, HCSB

We love God through obedience to His Word and sharing the gospel. People may get offended, but we seek the pleasure of God over others. Yet, as people come to love God they will seek His joy and will, as well.

VerseD: Deuteronomy 7:9

“Know that Yahweh your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commands.”

Deuteronomy 7:9, HCSB

We love God through obedience to His commands, and He is faithful in helping us obey by His Holy Spirit loving others through us.

Sermon: The Joyful Life: What’s Your Story? – Philippians 4:18-23

I preached again!

There were a lot of tech issues, as can be seen in the video, yet this was fun for me to preach and (I hear) to listen to. It was also emotional.

As usual, my PowerPoint is provided below.

The Joyful Life: What’s Your Story – Philippians 4:18-23

VerseD: Psalm 9:1

I will thank Yahweh with all my heart; I will declare all Your wonderful works.

Psalm 9:1, HCSB

We love God by loving the Church and worshipping Him together in gratitude and unity, sharing with each other and the world all He has done.

VerseD: Philippians 1:3

I give thanks to my God for every remembrance of you

Philippians 1:3, HCSB

Love the Church. It is the New Commandment of Jesus, and the Church helps us draw near to God.

VerseD: Proverbs 3:7

Don’t consider yourself to be wise; fear the Lord and turn away from evil.

Proverbs 3:7, HCSB

God is our source of life, peace, and rest, and we can rest in the knowledge that we have His wisdom when we receive new life in Christ.
