The primary purpose of the Holy Spirit is not merely to give eternal life, for He also both shapes and prunes us while also working through us to shape others to be more like Christ.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Each person should do as he has decided in his heart — not reluctantly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:7, HCSB

The primary purpose of the Holy Spirit is not merely to bring eternal life, but He also grows the sacrificial love of Christ in us to want to be generous with all we have and are.
