VerseD: Proverbs 3:7

Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.

Proverbs 3:7, ESV

We are very limited in our knowledge of life, the universe, and everything.

Once we acknowledge this, we can seek the One who knows all things and has told us what is good.

VerseD: Proverbs 23:24

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

Proverbs 23:24, ESV

We all make mistakes, but wisdom is learning from mistakes: our own and those of others. It is also learning from our Heavenly Father, bringing joy to our earthly family.

VerseD: James 3:13

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.

James 3:13, ESV

A wise person knows that that strength is shown through kindness and love, as our Lord showed by becoming a man and dying on a cross.

May we have the Lord’s wisdom, strength, and love by the power of the Holy Spirit.

VerseD: Proverbs 13:20

Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

We can choose to follow this world and its rejection of and rebellion to God, or we can follow God and His People – the Church – pursuing Christ, the Wosdom of God.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

James 1:5, ESV

When we seek godly wisdom (not merely our own desires), God wants to give it abundantly, especially to share His glory.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

We cannot know God if we do not know about who He is. We must remember first that He is a God of wrath who must punish sin, then we can know the God of grace and forgiveness.

Then we can begin to rightly understand our world and ourselves.

Any parent is happy when their children choose to do well in life.

How much more delighted is God when we choose to follow and obey Christ?

We can walk with God and others who do, growing in wisdom from the source of wisdom, or we can follow this world and it’s ways and suffer the consequences.

God would rather we make wise decisions, the wisest being to follow (obey and emulate) His Son.
Seek first His Kingdom and righteousness.

We can be streetwise or experts in a field, knowing the best way to do or explain something, but if we never seek God, we are fools.
Find full knowledge and wisdom by seeking God above all things.
