Call to Prayer: Truth Quest 2024

Tonight and tomorrow (April 12-13) is the Truth Quest Youth Apologetics Conference in Prescott, AZ.

We have about 250 youth present.

Please pray all of us speakers speak well the words of truth, and may all find freedom in Christ!

VerseD: Ephesians 6:18

Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.

Ephesians 6:18, HCSB‬

We get through this life and even thrive because we have God’s Word, God’s people, and God’s Spirit guiding, encouraging, and empowering us. May we pray in the Spirit for each other and all of our needs.

VerseD: Hebrews 5:7

In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety.

Hebrews 5:7, NASB1995‬

Christ came to be our example in all things, especially in sacrificial love,  showing us the closeness of God through prayer even and especially in difficult times.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 12:25-27

so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other. So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it.

‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:25‭-‬27‬, ‭CSB‬

Jesus calls us to love each other as He loves us, and He empowers His Church to show grace, forgiveness, and encouragement to each other, to lift each other up and carry each other as we need it.

VerseD: Luke 18:1

And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.

Luke‬ ‭18:1‬, ‭ESV‬

Jesus reminds us that life is hard, and when we don’t see the response we wanted or it doesn’t come fast enough, hang in there. Keep praying. The Holy Spirit will also give us strength, wisdom, and help with our prayers.

VerseD: Romans 8:26

Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Romans‬ ‭8:26‬, ‭ESV‬

Life gets hard for many reasons, and sometimes it is too much. Yet God helps us, because He loves in the believer by the Holy Spirit, so we can trust that God knows our needs and helps us pray even when we feel like we can’t.

VerseD: 1 Samuel 3:10

And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.”

‭1 Samuel‬ ‭3:10‬, ‭ESV‬

Sometimes we don’t feel like praying, so we help each other remain faithful in seeking God.

Sometimes – oftentimes – we find God has been calling out to us the whole time. Let us respond in gratitude and obedience.

VerseD: Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians‬ ‭4:6‭-‬7‬, ‭CSB‬

We encourage each other through all areas of life, especially when life gets hard. Therefore, we pray together and lift up our cares to God in prayer to find His wisdom.and even peace.

VerseD: 1 John 5:14

This is the confidence we have before him: If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

‭1 John‬ ‭5:14‬, ‭CSB‬

We encourage each other to grow in Christ, and that can look like keeping each other in line with Christ’s thinking so that our prayers are indeed heard as we ask in His will.

VerseD: Matthew 6:9

‭“Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name be honored as holy.”

Matthew‬ ‭6:9‬, ‭CSB‬

We should encourage each other as the Church, and the best first step is seeking our God through prayer. And Jesus gave us an outline to follow.
