This Sunday at Church: Pray for your Church to not forget the Great Commission

I actually have a planning meeting with some men this afternoon to discuss community prayer and outreach. I may be overseeing this ministry, but we are entrusting the work to these men and the congregation.

I love Jimmy and our other brothers and sisters, but I must also point out specifically why we go out: Matthew 28:18

And [Jesus] said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

Daniel

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Pray for your Church to not forget the Great Commission. First though: What is the Great Commission? Its from Matthew 28:19-20 which states: Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the […]

This Sunday at Church: Pray for your Church to not forget the Great Commission

VerseD: James 4:17

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

James 4:17, ESV

God has shown us what is right, but we must still obey and act.

VerseD: Matthew 20:28

“even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Matthew 20:28, ESV

We tend toward selfishness, but God has given us the example of sacrificial love and servant-hood towards each other and (as well as for) God.

VerseD: Colossians 3:2

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Colossians 3:2, ESV

Let us focus on our Lord and His Kingdom, ushering such things on Earth as He sends us out into this twisted and broken world, restoring the unity with our God that He desires.

VerseD: Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16, ESV

People will know we have the love of God when we do good things for others without expectation of reward, only to bless others and give glory to the One who saved us.

VerseD: Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:33, ESV

We want to change the world, but it only happens when we seek the kingdom and righteousness of God in our own life and let Him move through us.

VerseD: Matthew 6:3

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing

Matthew 6:3, ESV

Seeking God will lead us to want to help others the same way Christ helped us, not so much to bring attention to ourselves but to glorify God, to bring others to faith and salvation.

VerseD: Galatians 6:10

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Galatians 6:10, ESV

Let us give thanks to God for every opportunity we get to serve others, especially within our family in Christ: the Church.

VerseD: James 1:17

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

James 1:17, ESV

Good wants us to bring heaven to earth, and He gives us blessings and gifts to accomplish this mission (not for ourselves).

And He doesn’t change.

VerseD: Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16, ESV

We like to think good things we do make a difference.

If we are not doing things to bring glory to God, they are ultimately meaningless.

My our thinking change too want to give God all the glory and honor.
