Sometimes we encounter difficulties in life that weigh on us.

God’s promises and encouragement can make the burden lighter and bring joy.

VerseD: Romans 15:4

For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

All of scripture is to lead us to Christ and help us grow in godliness, encouraging us in growth and hope.

God calls individuals for the sake of community. There is an individual element, but the communal is the focus.
How do we overcome? How are we strengthened and motivated?

One of the reasons we gather as the Church is to encourage each other in doing good things for others, as Christ did for us.

VerseD: Romans 15:5-6

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Seek out the holy and good in fellow believers instead of focusing on how we differ. By the power of the Holy Spirit, may we live well with each other in the unity of the Son’s blood as we glorify our Father in heaven.

We should encourage each other and lift each other up.

Especially, we should encourage each other to strengthen our souls through reading Scripture, prayer, and communal worship.

Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

We learn from each other, so do not give up meeting for church or groups. Encourage each other, rebuke each other, and share truth with each other. (Hebrews 10:23-25)
