This Sunday at Church: Pray for churches to partner for the Great Commission

I can gratefully say that our church enjoys partnering with others. It started largely with the local youth groups teaming up, though there was some cooperation already happening. I have preached at several churches around the area, in other cities, and across state lines. Many of us have teamed up to send groups and missionaries out, with six of us having spent about the last two years preparing to send a family to a recently war-torn Land.

Please pray for continued unity in gospel partnership.

VerseD: John 13:35

“By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

John‬ ‭13:35‬, ‭ESV‬

God showed His love by becoming like us and dying for us. The absolute least we can do is love each other in the Church, lest we show we are not His disciples. Love with Jesus’ patient, gracious love.

VerseD: 2 Corinthians 9:7

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:7‬, ‭ESV‬

As our Lord gave His life for us knowing the reward on the other side, so we help the Church and those in need by giving generously, knowing our reward is eternity with the One who loves us.

VerseD: Colossians 3:16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Colossians‬ ‭3:16‬, ‭ESV‬

In a world we have wrecked with our sinfulness, let us who have faith in Christ who redeems us encourage each other in the Spirit, being thankful and full of praise.

VerseD: Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Colossians‬ ‭3:15‬, ‭ESV‬

In a whirls of craziness and sin and mistakes, we know Christ has come to redeem us and gives us the Holy Spirit and the Church. We have hope and help to get through this life and into the next.

VerseD: 1 John 4:7

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.

1 John‬ ‭4:7‬, ‭ESV‬

God came to us to show us how to love, and, when we believe, He calls us friends and brothers. Let us love His Church to show we love Him.

This Sunday: Encourage the Church Security Team

We are fortunate that our head of church security is also one of our service deacons. Our congregation trusts him and our team, knowing they are there to keep things from harming anyone or distracting from worship and hearing the Word.

VerseD: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13

We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.

‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:12‭-‬13‬ , ESV‬

We all have spiritual authority over us, most importantly Christ. Let us respect them as they serve Christ and out of our love for Christ.

VerseD: Psalm 32:8

‭I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

Psalm‬ ‭32:8‬, ‭ESV‬

In a world that says to follow your heart and do what feels good/right, God has shown us what the good and right way is. It is found in His Word, guided by the Holy Spirit who changes our hearts, and encouraged by faithful fellow Christians.
