VerseD: Philippians 2:13

for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Philippians 2:13, ESV

God works in us, most effectively and clearly when we find our identity first and foremost in Christ. If our identity is found in anything else, we go astray to be an example of His wrath, but as one who belongs to Christ, He does amazing things that bless others as examples of His love and grace.

VerseD: Hebrews 13:16

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Hebrews 13:16, ESV

Our God came to us to share His love, grace, and Presence with us, making it possible by sacrificing Himself in our place for our sin and rebellion.

May we follow Christ in sacrificially doing good for others, bringing them into knowledge and deeper relationship with Him.

VerseD: 2 Chronicles 7:14

if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

2 Chronicles 7:14, ESV

We are called to pray, and Jesus gave us the example by praying regularly and for all who would follow Him in faith as God.

Let us pray for our needs, yes, but for each other and our world, as our Lord showed us.

VerseD: 1 Timothy 4:12

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

1 Timothy 4:12, ESV

Age means little in the Kingdom of God. We are all called to seek God, study His Word, live righteously in the power of the Holy Spirit, and bring others along in Christ.

VerseD: Matthew 20:28

“even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Matthew 20:28, ESV

We tend toward selfishness, but God has given us the example of sacrificial love and servant-hood towards each other and (as well as for) God.

VerseD: Isaiah 6:8

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.”

Isaiah 6:8, ESV

It is intimidating, even scary to stand for God’s truth.

Yet, our Lord came and willingly went to the cross for truth, so let us follow His example in His strength by the power of the Holy Spirit.

VerseD: Philippians 4:9

What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:9, ESV

We show we love God when we love others, and we do that by sacrificially living out the gospel as an example for others and for the glory of God by power of the Holy Spirit.

VerseD: Matthew 20:28

“even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Matthew 20:28, ESV

God’s plan is the redemption of His people and this world, and Jesus not only redeemed us but at the example for us. We are to serve God by serving others, even to the point of laying down our lives to draw others to Christ’s redemption.

VerseD: John 13:14

If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

John 13:14, ESV

Jesus demonstrated His love for us through sacrifice and inconvenience. We should be following His example in our own lives, with the Church and to the world.

VerseD: Philippians 2:7-8

but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Philippians 2:7‭-‬8, ESV

Our God came to us, denying His privileges and hiding His glory, as a man, to show us the way, make us clean, and prepare a way until He returns or calls us home.
