It can feel like God is distant, whether because of evil in the world or our own sin or need to help others, yet we know that in Christ God is always with us through the promised Holy Spirit until His return.

God should be our greatest desire, and sometimes we focus on something else or He is calling us to think of others with His love and will by allowing sadness, depression, and anxiety. Prayer and praise to our Savior will restore our desire.

God’s heart is for the oppressed, especially that all are oppressed by sin. When we focus too much on our sin and evil in the world, it is easy to be depressed, but focusing on Christ gives peace and hope.

Life in this world can get overwhelming and depressing.

Our God has given us hope for the future through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Seek Him to find joy.

For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

We can know that Christ has cleansed us of all guilt and shame, though we lament our sin for a time.

Let us help those in this world find the same peace and hope, getting through depression and into the joy of the Lord.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Being broken is not always bad. When we are broken, we are more open to God’s power, peace, grace, and love.

Praising God is the best way to get out of a funk of depression, worry/anxiety, confusion, and fear.
