But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.
Isaiah 43:1, ESV
God has restored us to relationship with Himself, those of us who believe in Jesus as Savior and God are called His the redeemed and Hos friends. We may not be born descendents of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but we are made His chosen people in Christ.
I remember being the teenager invited to church who only went to be with friends. Then I believed in Jesus, but I still went to be with friends. Then I took my faith seriously, and I went to actively be part of Christ’s Body.
I also remember feeling like no one really mentored me. I knew there was active discipleship through the various people at church, but it did not feel like there was direct discipleship. Others my age were getting more attention, but it felt like their teaching was so basic, and I was looking for deeper things.
Looking back, I can now see how a few adults went out of their way to make time and try to help. May we also help young people and young believers know how much we try to help.
Daniel
This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Pray for God to provide opportunities for you to disciple someone new at Church
Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.
Psalm 42:11, ESV
Our God is good and came and experienced our pain and struggle, so He can understand and comfort us in our pain and struggles. He then empowers and sends us to share His goodness with others.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4, ESV
Our good God came to us, suffered like us and for us, and now calls us to join in His suffering by the power of the Holy Spirit to bring His comfort and peace to others.
“There is none holy like the Lord: for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.”
1 Samuel 2:2, ESV
God alone is good and holy and the source of all life and goodness. And He chose to come to us to grant us life and holiness, filling us with His love, grace, and goodness to carry it into the world.
And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 2:38, ESV
The Holy Spirit empowers us to Repent and faithfully follow Christ. Our God has sent Him that we may be sent out to lead others to forgiveness in Christ.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8, ESV
Christ has sent us into the world, sent filled by the Holy Spirit to proclaim Christ.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
Matthew 28:19, ESV
Our God is faithful, as shown in coming to us to save us from our sin and His wrath. He now calls us and empowers us to faithfully go and share this good news and raise up other faithful followers.
Do we truly love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strengths? Maybe I can help with the mind part, at least! This is Daniel M. Klem, apparent poet, reluctant yet passionate Disciple (Peter?), and foolish man attempting to understand theology!
