VerseD: Matthew 21:19

And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once.

Matthew 21:19, ESV

We might try to be trendy for the season or on the right side of history, but we are called to obey Christ above our own desires and societal expectations.

VerseD: Matthew 21:13

He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.”

Matthew 21:13, ESV

We like to think we are dedicating things to God, but are we merely bringing our own will into our walk?

Let us first dedicate our lives to God and the rest will follow.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 10:31

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31, ESV

Even our simple choices in life should be dedicated to God, with concern for those around us but always to glorify God.

VerseD: John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16, ESV

We like to think we are basically good or can earn a place in heaven, but it is only by faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus that we get there.

VerseD: Matthew 20:28

“even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Matthew 20:28, ESV

We tend toward selfishness, but God has given us the example of sacrificial love and servant-hood towards each other and (as well as for) God.

VerseD: John 3:17

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

John 3:17, ESV

On our own, we stand condemned. Jesus came to offer redemption from condemnation and hope for salvation and eternal life, if we are humble enough to accept it.

VerseD: 2 Corinthians 12:10

For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 12:10, ESV

God seems closest to us when we are at our lowest, usually because we are finally willing to listen and notice He has been showing Himself to us the whole time.

Truth Quest Youth Apologetics Conference Prescott – Truth & Unity – March 24-25, 2023

This weekend, I am with my youth group joining several other youth groups for the Truth Quest Apologetics Conference.

Please pray for these students and churches. In a world of division and hatred, we are teaching about the unity we have in the Truth of Christ.

(And I plan on uploading my presentation here, too)

VerseD: Psalm 139:13-14

For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.

Psalm 139:13‭-‬14, ESV

We don’t know our own bodies as much as we might like to think we do.

God, however, knows us intimately – mind, body, soul – and we have been called by Him to know Him.

VerseD: 3 John 1:11

Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.

3 John 1:11, ESV

Too much knowledge puffs up, and we like to think we know more than we do. Then we copy what feels right to us rather than what may be true. Let us seek God and His wisdom, knowing that He alone is good and true.
