VerseD: Hebrews 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

The Bible tells us of dozens – hundreds – thousands – who believed in and were faithful to God. Their example and testimony should inspire us and spur us on toward godliness – Christ-likeness.

VerseD: Psalm 27:14

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
Psalm 27:14, ESV

We are all too often restless and impatient. We must learn God’s patience.

Remember that He has been patient with us, throughout all of history and until Christ returns, saving even us.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
1 Corinthians 13:4‭-‬5, ESV

People can be stupid, it is true.

If you are easily irritated by or jealous of them, do you truly have the love of God in you?

Remember how patient, kind, and sacrificial He has been to you, and that will inspire love for others.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 15:58

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58, ESV

May we never say “Do as I say, not as I do” as Christians.

We have the Word of God, but our faith is so much more than words. We must interact with our world in real and physical ways! And He will empower, strengthen, and move through us!

VerseD: Proverbs 19:21

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

We may have our own plans, but God has a grander plan that we are each a part of. This is why James (4:15) tells us to say, “Lord willing” when we plan.

He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.

God is not saying to find the first person to marry.

Favor and blessings are only promised to those who seek His righteousness, and a good spouse is godly and willing to serve the other (both spouses!)

Do you talk a lot? Or not at all?

What do you say when you speak?

Is what you say uplifting and wholesome or tearing down and frivolous?

Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Job made a covenant with his eyes, and many limit what they eat. But God reminds us everything we look at, listen to, and think about affects the heart (and mind and soul). What we allow in and dwell on affects our thoughts, beliefs, and actions.

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

It is tough living with and loving other people. We can get on our nerves, and we are brothers and sisters in Christ.

Yet, Christ calls us friends. We must love each other, but His love should flow through us.

VerseD: Proverbs 10:17

Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.
Proverbs 10:17, ESV

Obedience is more important to God than most anything. Rejecting His leadings and law is not only dangerous to you but compounded as you lead others to disobedience.
