God has prepared a rest for us through Christ, and because of His life, death, and resurrection, we know we can approach God without fear and with hope for that rest from the pains and temptations of this life.

VerseD: Proverbs 23:24

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

God gives commands according to His nature and our good. He makes us righteous when we believe in His only Son, the Wisdom of God who guides us.

‭“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”

God has many commands, and all are to His glory and our benefit. The command to rest is God’s grace of reminding us to relax and enjoy life and Him.

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.

God came to us to give us grace and eternal life, and now He sends us out in the power of the Holy Spirit to share this love and life with others.

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

God is omnipotent and omniscient, knowing all about us and our world, capable of changing hearts. He changes ours to be able to love each other, because He helps us love Him by His love.

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry

We are created in God’s image, so let us follow Christ’s example of listening, asking questions, and only then offering advice or insight, honoring the image of God in each of us.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 10:31

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Christ came as our example and to renew us. It is not just communion that we take in reverence, but we thank God for every bite, every sip, every action, and every breath we have His grace of taking.

VerseD: Malachi 4:6

and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Christ was sent to renew our hearts and bring us grace and forgiveness, and we know He loves us but will also bring this world to an end. May the Spirit guide us in bringing others to this grace.

Therefore let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us at the proper time.

We worship Christ for saving us, and now, because of His sacrifice and resurrection, may we tell others this truth and draw near to God’s throne together.

We worship Christ, because He paid our debt we could never pay and restored the relationship we could never restore. May we love others sacrificially and share the good news that “It is finished,” that we can be with God!
