Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
1 John 4:11, ESV
It is easier to love others when we know we are loved. Our identity must be found in the One who loves us enough to have come and died for our sins and rose again.
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
Luke 6:35, ESV
God showed His kindness to us by saving us when we were ungrateful and evil toward Him and each other.
Let us live by Christ’s example, knowing He has paid for others and we receive His grace and forgiveness. We expect nothing from them.
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal”
Matthew 6:19, ESV
Most things in this life are not inherently bad, but our desire for them can definitely be. Let Christ be our treasure, and may we point others to glorify God through Him.
Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13, ESV
The Father sent the Son to show Hisblove by dying for our forgiveness and restoration. They sent the Holy Spirit to empower us to love others the same way.
Do we truly love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strengths? Maybe I can help with the mind part, at least! This is Daniel M. Klem, apparent poet, reluctant yet passionate Disciple (Peter?), and foolish man attempting to understand theology!
