VerseD: Luke 9:23-24

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

Christ came to save us by taking the cross we deserved, but He asks us to take up our own cross – live like Jesus by sacrificing our wants, desires, comforts, freedoms, and even our lives in radical love for others to show them the love of God.

VerseD: Philippians 1:6

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6, ESV

We were lost in our sins, but God came to us to redeem us. Now He lives in we who believe, making us more Christ-like.

VerseD: Ephesians 1:7

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace

Ephesians 1:7, ESV

God came to us when we were in full rebellion against Him that He might save save us through His sacrifice by His grace and love.

VerseD: Proverbs 18:24

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

Friendship is good, but a lot of friends won’t necessarily make us feel better nor save us from all our sins.

Yet, Jesus has called us friends if we belive in and follow Him and His sacrificial love.

VerseD: Romans 12:21

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Romans 12:21, ESV

Everything we do apart from Christ is evil, yet He came to overcome our evil with His righteousness by His death.

May we live like our Lord and Savior, loving others sacrificially and with goodness.

VerseD: Hebrews 12:2

looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:2, ESV

Our God showed us that a cursed person was hung on a tree, facing ultimate shame. Yet He came to us, knowing He would take our shame, and knowing He would see us in Eternity.

“and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

John 8:32, ESV

We know we are horrible, and this truth hurts, but the truth that God came to us to redeem us and restore us frees us to move past mistakes, sins, and horribleness and into life, love, and grace.

VerseD: Galatians 1:10

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

We know God is with us, so we seek to please Him even if the rest of the world tells us to follow what seems good. We are open to corrections but it must align with Scripture and conscience in the Holy Spirit.

VerseD: Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12, ESV

We fear what others may say or do to us, but God’s Word can cut much deeper and reveal more about us than anything or anyone in this world. But He also can heal and restore us better than any other.

Let us trust in Him.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

John 10:10, ESV

We don’t have to live in fear, knowing that God has defeated Satan and the lower of this world through the cross.
