The one who says he remains in him should walk just as he walked.
1 John 2:6, CSB
We need God, and He gave us the example of how to live in Jesus Christ. He helps us walk in faithfulness and love by the power of Holy Spirit, so let us trust Him and follow Him.
Jesus spoke to them again: “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12, CSB
We walk in the footsteps of Christ, and walking in obedience to God reveals our sins as well as His righteousness and love for others flowing through us.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
Galatians 5:25, ESV
It is easy to follow the ways of the world, but Christ came to show us a better way and give us hope for the future. The Holy Spirit is the sign of that hope, and He walks with us.
I don’t normally make a big deal about this particular day of the year. I prefer to dwell on January 9, the day I became a believer in Jesus as my Savior.
What is special of this day?
Well, on October 26, 1983, I was born.
As I turn two score years old, it occurred to me that this year I will have spent two and half times longer as a Christian than not as a Christian. I was 16 years in the spiritual wilderness when I first bent my knee and confessed Jesus as Lord. This coming year, I celebrate 24 years walking as a disciple of Jesus in the Promise.
I may have completed 40 revolutions about our Sun, but I await eternity wrapped in the love of The Son.
And I am thankful for our God’s love and grace, for all the gifts He has given, especially for eternal life. (And a loving, God-fearing wife who helps me grow and stay on the straight-and-narrow. And I await greeting my mother once more in His presence.)
yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will take joy in the God of my salvation.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1 John 1:7, ESV
We show our praise and thankfulnessto our Lord who saves us, who is the Light of the world, by following His example of sacrifocial love for each other and our world.
Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
Proverbs 13:20, ESV
We think we know what’s best, but God has given His Word to guide us. We still struggle, so God came to us to shine His light on us and offer His life for our forgiveness.
Walk in the Light, not in the darkness of our fellow men and women of this world.
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.
Ephesians 5:1, ESV
We want to do our own thing, but we are called to perfection. Only by pursuing and imitating Christ can we get over ourselves and act like God’s children.
Do we truly love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strengths? Maybe I can help with the mind part, at least! This is Daniel M. Klem, apparent poet, reluctant yet passionate Disciple (Peter?), and foolish man attempting to understand theology!
