Send Your light and Your truth; let them lead me.

Let them bring me to Your holy mountain,
to Your dwelling place.
Then I will come to the altar of God,
to God, my greatest joy.
I will praise You with the lyre,
God, my God.
It can feel like God is distant, yet He is always as close as a prayer, inhabits our praise, and promised to always be with His Church.
For You are the God of my refuge.

Why have You rejected me?
Why must I go about in sorrow
because of the enemy’s oppression?
It can feel like God is distant, especially when evil thrives, but we can take comfort in knowing that God has not only not rejected us but promised to be with us always when we are in Christ.
Vindicate me, God, and defend my cause

against an ungodly nation;
rescue me from the deceitful and unjust man.
It can feel like God is distant when evil runs rampant, but we know we stand on God’s truth and His promise that He is always with us.
Why am I so depressed?
Psalm 42:11, HCSB
Why this turmoil within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him,
my Savior and my God.
It can feel like God is distant when life is hard or evil seems to be winning, but our hope is in Christ who has promised to be with us always and is worthy of all praise.
The Lord will send His faithful love by day;
Psalm 42:8, HCSB
His song will be with me in the night—
a prayer to the God of my life.
God should be our greatest desire, and we can rest in His love and grace, seeking Him through prayer and praise by day and by night, even in our bed in the middle of the night and surrounded by fellow believers in church.
Why am I so depressed?

Why this turmoil within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him,
my Savior and my God.
God should be our greatest desire, and sometimes we focus on something else or He is calling us to think of others with His love and will by allowing sadness, depression, and anxiety. Prayer and praise to our Savior will restore our desire.
I remember this as I pour out my heart:

how I walked with many,
leading the festive procession to the house of God,
with joyful and thankful shouts.
God should be our greatest desire, and our time with His Church should be the reminder of His faithfulness and reason to celebrate His coming to us, pushing us to love Him even more.
Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing praises.
James 5:13, HCSB
God has a purpose for everything and everyone. We are to give God praise and lift each other up in prayer and by His Word.
Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised.
Proverbs 31:30, HCSB
God is faithful. Anyone who trusts in Christ will be praised by God at the end. This is true for the Church and for every child, man, and woman within Her.
And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior”
Luke 1:46-47, HCSB
We are called in Christ to help each other be more like Christ, and that begins with worshiping God rightly and together, declaring His greatness to and over each other.
