VerseD: Hebrews 13:16

Don’t neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

Hebrews 13:16, HCSB

God created a home for us and called us to love as He loves, so let us find ways to love others well, sacrificially and compassionately, just like Christ.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 10:31

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for God’s glory.

1 Corinthians 10:31, HCSB

God created a home for us with all we need to enjoy Him and be with Him, so may we worship and honor Him in everything we do, thanking Him for all good things and every provision.

VerseD: Isaiah 60:1

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord shines over you.

God created everything to make a home for us and be with us, and He calls us to see His light and dwell with Him.

VerseD: Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.

Romans 12:2, HCSB

God created everything for us and to be with us, yet we often want this world more than Him. Let us be changed by the Holy Spirit to want Him and all that is good, to know good from evil and know Him more.

VerseD: Psalm 27:4

I have asked one thing from the Lord; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the Lord and seeking Him in His temple.

Psalm 27:4, HCSB

God created everything to give us all home, and He wants to dwell with us. Our greatest desire is to dwell with our God.

VerseD: Mark 2:27

Then He told them, “The Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.”

Mark 2:27, HCSB

Remember that God created not merely to show His power but to make a home for humanity. The Sabbath is for our good, and we obey God believing He knows what is best for us.

VerseD: John 6:34

“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again.”

John 6:35, CSB

God deserves our thanks, especially for coming down from heaven to us and offering Himself for our redemption.

Thank You Day

We were recently at a friends’ house, and their three-year-old came running up to me, declaring loudly, “Thank You Day is coming!” He was speaking of the upcoming (today, as of this posting) holiday in the United States of America, Thanksgiving.

This is a great reminder.

We are not merely thankful for what we have in this life. We should be thankful to someone, namely God.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, ESV)

May we be thankful to our God for all the blessings He gives us, praising His name and seeking His will and glory, and praising and thanking Him most for new life in Christ.

VerseD: Isaiah 43:2

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you.

Isaiah 43:2, CSB

The gospel is overcoming the fear of death and uncertainty, knowing Christ has overcome sin, death, and the forces of this world through His death and resurrection.

VerseD: Matthew 19:26

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Matthew 19:26, CSB

The gospel is the impossible happening: a hardened, evil heart being softened and made righteous by grace through faith in the work of Christ.
