A Score and Four Re-Birthday

On this day 24 years ago, at 6:46 PM CST, I bent my knee to Jesus as Lord and Savior. (If you do a search on this site for “birthday”, you will see the various explanations.)

I like to call it my Re-Birthday, as we call faith in Christ being born again. This comes from John 3 and 1 Peter 1. I encourage everyone to remember their own re-birthday (and if you aren’t sure/can’t remember, just claim your birthday.)

This year, I get to start Christian Worldview courses (as one of the instructors) with 167 students who were all born after this momentous day in my life. Tomorrow I am with fellow seminarians who also were mostly born after this date! (2 are about my age, and 2 others are in theor later 20’s.)

Also, it is my mother-in-law’s birthday, so join me in wishing her a happy and blessed day! If not for her, I would not have my wife!

God bless you, and remember that Jesus Christ is the reason we live and move and breathe and have meaning and being!

VerseD: Hebrews 10:24-25

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Hebrews‬ ‭10:24‭-‬25‬, ‭ESV‬

The Light of the world moves in and through us to the rest of the world. May we then gather as His Church to encourage each other to grow in love and good works, to shine brightly in the hope of eternity and Christ’s return.

VerseD: Isaiah 60:1

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

Isaiah‬ ‭60:1‬, ‭ESV‬

The Light of the world has come to us, and when we believe in His grace and salvation, His light grows in and through us.

VerseD: Romans 12:2

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans‬ ‭12:2‬, ‭ESV‬

We can’t truly know the eternal love of God with our fallen hearts and minds until we learn what it means to love Him with all of our heart, soul, and mind. The Holy Spirit is the one who renews and transforms our minds. Seek God and let him change you to love God.

VerseD: Psalm 143:10

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!

Psalm‬ ‭143:10‬, ‭ESV‬

God wants what is best for us, being good and love. He gives us His Word and Holy Spirit to help us do what is good and loving.

VerseD: Psalm 119:11

I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Psalm‬ ‭119:11‬, ‭ESV‬

God’s Law is based on His character, who He is. When we truly take in His Word by the power of the Holy Spirit, it will change our character, our inner-selves, to be more like our holy and righteous God.

VerseD: James 1:25

But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

James‬ ‭1:25‬, ‭ESV‬

God’s Law is not a set of arbitrary rules but based on His character, so He came as one of us to perfectly obey.

Now He helps us by His Holy Spirit to love in Christ’s obedience when we believe in His death and resurrection.

VerseD: Genesis 1:1

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis‬ ‭1:1‬, ‭ESV‬

We see an eternal, All-powerful, personal, loving God from the very beginning. He didn’t need to create us, but He did. Perfectly. And He has a plan.

Trust in Him.

Cowboy Bob’s Christmas Exchange 2023

This is a heartfelt and heart-wrenching view of grief at the holidays that I think many could find encouragement and even the beginnings of healing from.

Let us pray for all grieving at this time (whenever you read this or it comes to mind!)

VerseD: Ecclesiastes 3:11

‭He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3:11‬, ‭ESV‬

God has planned every day of history, and He has planned on our full redemption. He has come and is coming again, and we all have a desire for eternal life.

Seek God now, and find eternal life in Christ.
