Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign: See, the virgin will conceive, have a son, and name him Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:14, CSB
We find hope and peace knowing God prepared for our salvation centuries before Jesus came, even from before the foundation of the world, that He would be with us.
“Look, the days are coming” — this is the Lord’s declaration — “when I will fulfill the good promise that I have spoken concerning the house of Israel and the house of Judah.”
Jeremiah 33:14, CSB
There is hope and peace in knowing God not only knew He was bringing salvation but was planning it and making it happen. He is in control.
Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.
Proverbs 4:23, CSB
We have hope and peace in knowing that we can protect our hearts with the Holy Spirit given to us by God when our faith is in Christ who gave Himself for us.
Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, according to Christ Jesus
Romans 15:5, CSB
There is hope and peace in knowing the triune God helps us to live at peace and in harmony with Him and each other as we go through this troublesome life.
We launched our Sunday “prayer corner” nearly three years ago, only the elders taking turns being the primary contact. A year and a half ago, we started a midweek prayer group. It actually took us a while to have this same thought as today’s exhortation. Today, our deacons lead the prayer corner with other volunteers, and midweek is facilitated by volunteers. (We elders still participate in both! I rarely make the prayer meeting due to youth group being at the same time.)
Pray for congregational prayer.
Daniel
For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for the church’s prayer meetings ahead of time.
This is how we have come to know love: He laid down his life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
1 John 3:16, CSB
We work in this world to usher others into the rest of Christ, knowing Christ paid for our eternal rest through His agonizing death because of His love for us.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.
1 Chronicles 16:34, CSB
We work in this world to usher others into the rest of Christ, being thankful for and sharing His goodness and love that gives us est from fear and worry.
He protects his flock like a shepherd; he gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them in the fold of his garment. He gently leads those that are nursing.
Isaiah 40:11, CSB
We work in this world to usher others into the rest of Christ, knowing we await the perfect rest of God’s loving care, walking in His guidance and to those who are wandering astray.
Do we truly love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strengths? Maybe I can help with the mind part, at least! This is Daniel M. Klem, apparent poet, reluctant yet passionate Disciple (Peter?), and foolish man attempting to understand theology!
