VerseD: John 13:34

“I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another.”

John 13:34, CSB

The power of Christ moves in us by the Holy Spirit, helping us love His Church with the same selfless, sacrificial love He shows us.

VerseD: Mark 10:45

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45, CSB

Christ is our example of love, serving others sacrificially to bring them into a saving relationship with God.

This Sunday at Church: Pray for Christ be preached by those involved with serving the Lord’s Supper

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Pray for Christ be preached by those involved with serving the Lord’s Supper.

VerseD: Luke 9:23-24

And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

Luke 9:23‭-‬24, ESV

Christ came to save us by taking the cross we deserved, but He asks us to take up our own cross – live like Jesus by sacrificing our wants, desires, comforts, freedoms, and even our lives in radical love for others to show them the love of God.

VerseD: Hebrews 13:16

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Hebrews 13:16, ESV

This world is full of selfishness and need.

Let us share the love of God with others, ushering heaven onto earth as we sacrifice of ourselves to help others in Jesus’ name.

VerseD: Matthew 27:51

And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split.

Matthew 27:51, ESV

Good came to us and died for our sin that separated us from Him. Now nothing separates us when we are washed in His blood, as the torn temple curtain shows us.

VerseD: 1 Peter 5:10

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

1 Peter 5:10, ESV

God sent His Son to die for us, yet He rose again. They send the Holy Spirit Empower us to suffer for His name’s sake.

He will raise us up, too.

VerseD: Psalm 126:5

Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!

Psalm 126:5, ESV

Hard work can lead to good results.

Doing the Lord’s work in this life often will be hard, but the eternal rewards are with any sacrifice.

VerseD: Numbers 18:27

And your contribution shall be counted to you as though it were the grain of the threshing floor, and as the fullness of the winepress.
Numbers 18:27, ESV

Ministers receive the tenth from the people and then also tithe, but God sees the minister’s tithe as it’s own separate offering.
This, too, is a shadow of Christ’s substitionary sacrifice, that He offered Himself in our place but it is seen as our own peace offering before God.
His sacrifice, our reward.

VerseD: Micah 6:7

“Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
Micah 6:7, ESV

Old Covenant sacrifices were a shadow of the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. It does not take a slaughter for our forgiveness, but the sacrifice of God’s Son, Jesus.
Now, our sacrifice is to follow His example of servanthood and love.
