VerseD: 2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16‭-‬17, ESV

We need not unhitch from the Old Testament nor attempt to reinterpret any of the Bible for our modern context.
All of Scripture points us to the Son of God, Jesus, amd shows us the best way to imitate Him in righteousness.

VerseD: Proverbs 9:10

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
Proverbs 9:10, ESV

No matter how smart or wise a person may be, true wisdom and knowledge comes from God and knowing Him. Peace of mind is found in Christ alone, knowing we are His and free from wrath.

VerseD: Psalm 139:23-24

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!
Psalm 139:23‭-‬24, ESV

On our own, we are woefully inadequate to accomplish true good, let alone alone save ourselves from our sin.
Our true peace is found in letting God show us our need for Him and His cleansing, saving work.

VerseD: Matthew 11:28-29

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Matthew 11:28‭-‬29, ESV

Our Lord, who took the ultimate pain on Himself, wants to take our pain, worries, amd fears, too.
He may not immediately relieve all our suffering, but we have the hope of full relief and peace in Christ at His return.

VerseD: Jeremiah 17:9

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
Jeremiah 17:9, ESV

If we “look deep within” ourselves to find happiness, we will only be disappointed. Maybe this life will turn out better from “following our hearts,” but ultimately it usually leads us away from Christ and eternal life.
We should expect those outside of Christ to act unwisely and foolishly, but we should be sober-minded and seek His wisdom.

VerseD: Romans 13:10

Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Romans 13:10, ESV

“Does no wrong” does not mean “never causes pain in any way.” Doing no wrong means seeking to do the best for others.
Because Christ first loved us.

VerseD: Ephesians 6:10

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
Ephesians 6:10, ESV

God empowers us by His Holy Spirit to love and show grace to others, to defend and proclaim His Word, and to withstand persecution, temptations, and troubles.

VerseD: James 3:13

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.
James 3:13, ESV

We have truth on our side, but wisdom often dictates grace and compassion win out over blunt statements.
Ask the Holy Spirit to give wisdom in every interaction with others.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 12:25-27

that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
1 Corinthians 12:25‭-‬27, ESV

Are we one Body of Christ or still trying to live our separate lives?
The Chrisitian faith is not lived in isolation. We need each other, encourage each other, and cry with each other.

VerseD: Matthew 6:3

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing
Matthew 6:3, ESV

We do not do good things for others to receive recognition and praise.
We do good works to lead people to the love and glory of God.
