VerseD: Jeremiah 17:9
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
Jeremiah 17:9, ESV
If we “look deep within” ourselves to find happiness, we will only be disappointed. Maybe this life will turn out better from “following our hearts,” but ultimately it usually leads us away from Christ and eternal life.
We should expect those outside of Christ to act unwisely and foolishly, but we should be sober-minded and seek His wisdom.
O how true that the heart is deceitful

But this morning, I had the honor of teaching Acts 16 (conversion of Lydia and the jailer) to our elementary kiddos. Oh, the deep questions about salvation and the explanation of the Gospel that they gave! And this after two of them had tantrums before we began! It was so good. And the mom of two of the boys was assisting, and she got to hear them explain our desperate need for forgiveness that can only be found in Christ!
