VerseD: 1 Peter 2:9-10

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

1 Peter 2:9‭-‬10, ESV

We must realize that in Christ we are not who we once were. We have been imprinted with the likeness of Christ, holy and royal, examples of God’s goodness in a dark and lost world.

May we be God’s ambassadors rather than live for ourselves.

This Sunday at Church: Being Grateful for other Members of other Local Churches

I spent about a year as a new Christian with the belief that my little church home was the best church that had everything figured out.

Today, I have friends across the theological spectrum, we have sent each other families who were looking for a better fit for their beliefs and gifting, and we regularly do events together and pray for each other.

The Body of Christ is better when we all get along!

(Yes. Watch out for the wolves in sheep’s clothing. But also remember Whitefield on Wesley: that he wouldn’t see Wesley in heaven because Wesleywould be closer to the throne.)

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Being Grateful for other Members of other Local Churches. I think one’s local church is important. In fact this series on the Church for the last few years now have focused on that. Lately I have been thinking about how sinful we […]

Church in Word-Starved Places

The title of this post is a play on a group called “Church in Hard Places.” This post isn’t about the group.  But the post is about being in a church where there’s not a lot of sound preaching. I love the Word of God.  It always hurt to see areas where there’s churches after […]

Prayer for Youth Camp!

Our Youth Next Door is headed to Mixed JH/HS camp this week! It is our first “modern traditional camp”, with cabins and bunks and fun and other churches.

Please join me in praying for safety, lots of fun, and – most importantly – getting to know Jesus and to love God better.

We have a fantastic group of teens (and pre-teens!), so I expect God to do great things!

This Sunday at Church: Pray for your Church to not forget the Great Commission

I actually have a planning meeting with some men this afternoon to discuss community prayer and outreach. I may be overseeing this ministry, but we are entrusting the work to these men and the congregation.

I love Jimmy and our other brothers and sisters, but I must also point out specifically why we go out: Matthew 28:18

And [Jesus] said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

Daniel

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Pray for your Church to not forget the Great Commission. First though: What is the Great Commission? Its from Matthew 28:19-20 which states: Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the […]

VerseD: Psalm 23:1-2

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

Psalm 23:1‭-‬2, ESV

God wants to help us. He sent Jesus to forgive and restore us, the Holy Spirit to empower us, and the Church to encourage us.

Have peace in Christ.

VerseD: Ephesians 6:18

praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints

Ephesians 6:18, ESV

In Christ, we are united with all other believers by the Holy Spirit, so ket us pray for each other regularly, especially those under persecution and oppression.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 3:16

Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?

1 Corinthians 3:16, ESV

When we are found in Christ, we are joined into the great Temple of God – the Chirch – held together by the mortar of the Word and fellowship in the Spirit.

VerseD: Acts 1:8

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 1:8, ESV

When we believe in Christ, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, but not for our own desires, rather to make Christ known in the world and grow His Church.

VerseD: James 1:5

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

James 1:5, ESV

Our first source of wisdom is always the Holy Spirit, by inward leading, church attending, and Bible reading. All we need do is ask for more wisdom!
