See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.
1 Thessalonians 5:15, ESV
We have unity in Christ, and we should seek the best for all in the Church and the the world, realizing most people are unaware of the harm they cause. Show grace, love, and patience with all people.
Our church is having a “Friendsgiving Dinner” after our main service and baptisms the Sunday before Thanksgiving. If anyone wants to come, reach out to The Church Next Door (AZ)!
As for my wife and me, we are all over the state on Thanksgiving Day, barely at home at all.
For those at home, having the retirees or empty-nesters without local family come over could be encouraging. Maybe the new people in town or widow(er)s need some extra joy and fellowship. I remember being a transplant to another state and suddenly homeless and getting invites to homes (not so much from the church I was mostly attending, though …)
It can be a big impact on someone, including for the gospel and Church of our Lord.
Daniel
This Sunday at Church I just want to personally ask: Consider whom you might invite to Thanksgiving Dinner from Church.
I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.
1 Corinthians 1:10, ESV
We have unity in Christ, so let us be united in seeking Him and encouraging each other to be more Christ-like.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
1 John 1:7, ESV
God has said He will be with us, and this is seen in living with the Church, helping each other, encouraging each other, and together worshiping the One who has saved us by Jesus’ blood.
We hired a secretary this year, and it has been so helpful. We tell her frequently how grateful we are for her, but it is a good reminder to keep showing our gratitude!
Pray for church secretaries, too, because they face many obstacles and spiritual attacks, too!
Daniel
This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Express gratitude for the Church Secretary.
Vote (if you are able), or don’t complain (because you did not take part in the process, and Philippians 2:14-16). Pray for our leaders to do well and even turn to Christ. Pray that the election can be reasonable.
Daniel
For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for 2024 US Presidential Election.
Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
Malachi 3:10, ESV
God is changing this world for His glory, and He is doing it through the Church. We give to the Church to spread His glory, and He is faithful to the Church and thus His people who give.
As stated before, I have family and friends in the Helene corridor. Thankfully, they are all fine, though I hear many of those living outside of cities are still living without power.
I have several friends in Florida, too, and they are all okay, but they have also been talking about a lot of the destruction. Those with kids are not expecting schools to be open for at least most of this next week.
Daniel
This Sunday at Church I just want to personally ask: Pray for People Recovering from Hurricane Helene and Milton.
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Galatians 6:10, ESV
The cost of following Jesus is getting over ourselves, and we should therefore treat others the way Jesus treated us, with sacrificial love, especially within the Church.
Do we truly love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strengths? Maybe I can help with the mind part, at least! This is Daniel M. Klem, apparent poet, reluctant yet passionate Disciple (Peter?), and foolish man attempting to understand theology!
