VerseD: Romans 8:6

For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

This Sunday at Church: Train your kids to learn to listen to others

My wife (our Children’s Director) and I (the Youth Pastor) regularly tell the the children/teens that we listen when others are speaking because it honors the God who listens to our prayers and needs, it honors God by honoring His image in others, it honors God and others by loving our neighbor, and (at least at church) it honors God and others so that others may hear the most important message: the Gospel.

This can be true in class, during the sermon, and anywhere else in the world.

God promises us peace, strength, and power – more than we even think to ask for, by filling us with His Holy Spirit – to endure this world and share the truth of the Gospel.

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Christ died for the sins of the world, but His resurrection is only for those who believe.

Likewise, we spread His love by helping others, especially those who believe.

Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over transgression for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in steadfast love.

Micah 7:18, ESV

Of all the world religions, only one has a God who gave Himself to give us a way to eternal life and forgiveness, rather than our needing to earn our way.

Because He loves us.

VerseD: Psalm 103:19

The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.

Psalm 103:19, ESV

God never changes, because He is outside of time; He is eternal. He interacts with us in time, but we can trust that He is in control of everything and is consistently good.

VerseD: Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Hebrews 13:8, ESV

We know we trust in the hope of salvation and Christ’s return, because He is our God who does not change.

VerseD: Psalm 100:2

Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Psalm 100:2, ESV

Our God has saved us from our sin. This should bring us much joy and want to sing! It should also push us to want to gladly share the news of salvation with this world.

Our little congregation has annual meetings, but it is good to have regular meetings that can flow peacefully and well.
