He answered, “It is written: Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Matthew 4:4, CSB
God moves in His own time and His own ways, but He has told us how to overcome temptations, evil, and our desires: His Word. Trust that He will do what He has said. Trust in His Word.
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Colossians 3:2, CSB
God moves on His time in His way, so let us focus on His will and timing. This will save us anxiety and fear, helping us to live holy and joyful lives.
We recently handed out some study Bibles to people in our congregation. I personally have been wanting more people to know how to read and use their Bibles since discovering some who thought the numbers and headings in our Bibles are also inspired Scripture.
Our pastor and I also began giving some people our extra copies of commentaries (plus a few gifts of new commentaries), with guidance on using these resources as helps rather than definitive truth about passages. We are beginning to see dramatic growth in many within our congregation.
Knowledge is power, and understanding our Bibles better helps us understand ou Lord and Savior better, and the power of God us life-changing.

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Encouraging someone to use Bible commentaries.
This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in whatever you do.
Joshua 1:8, CSB
We walk in the footsteps of Christ, and He demonstrated how powerful the Word of God is in our lives against evil forces, personal feelings, and relationships. Know the Bible to know Him more.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves.
Philippians 2:3, CSB
We walk in the footsteps of Christ, thinking of others’ needs more than our own, liv8ng sacrificially more than for ourselves, bringing glory to God rather than ourselves.
We walk in the footsteps of Christ, and this looks like doing good in loving obedience to God, helping others and doing what is right even when no one is looking.
Jesus spoke to them again: “I am the light of the world. Anyone who follows me will never walk in the darkness but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12, CSB
We walk in the footsteps of Christ, and walking in obedience to God reveals our sins as well as His righteousness and love for others flowing through us.
“Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child—this one is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 18:4, CSB
We walk in the footsteps of Christ, the one who welcomed and loved children and calls us to the same humble curiosity as children. Likewise, we should encourage curiosity and care for all children.
Know that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps his gracious covenant loyalty for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commands.
Deuteronomy 7:9, CSB
We walk in the footsteps of Christ, our faithful God who is faithful to His covenants and saves us, especially after we have been unfaithful. Let us walk in the power of the Holy Spirit to live faithfully for our Savior.
Do we truly love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strengths? Maybe I can help with the mind part, at least! This is Daniel M. Klem, apparent poet, reluctant yet passionate Disciple (Peter?), and foolish man attempting to understand theology!
