VerseD: Psalm 27:1

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1, ESV

When Paul wrote his epistles (letters), he was drawing on God’s Word (our Old Testament).

In Christ, we no longer fear death, punishment for sin, nor anything this world may do to us, for He has overcome.

VerseD: Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20‭-‬21, ESV

We are given the boldness, desire, and wisdom to ask the Father for our needs thanks to the One who made it possible and is making us like Himself through His Holy Spirit:

Jesus, the One who died for our forgiveness and rose again to glory!

VerseD: 2 Corinthians 5:21

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21, ESV

We are utterly sinful.

Christ is completely pure.

He took on our disgusting, separating sin on the cross, so that, when the Father looks at us who believe this, He sees the purity of the Son.

VerseD: 2 Thessalonians 3:3

But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
2 Thessalonians 3:3, ESV

Faithfulness to Jesus inevitably invites hatred from worldly people and the fallen ones.

The Faithful One may allow you to suffer, but their words and attacks will not be able to shake you.

Remain in the foundation of Christ, your mighty fortress.

Guest Post: Open My Eyes to Jesus

A dear brother submitted his own thoughts today.

Enjoy as you seek Christ.

Daniel

15When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my LORD! What shall we do?” the servant asked.
16“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
17And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, LORD, so that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

2 Kings 6:15-17

How many times in our life have we looked at situations that seem daunting and scary? I have fallen into the trap of not believing that our God has things under control.

I have fallen into the trap of not believing that our God has things under control.

I pray that God would open up our spiritual eyes and have Faith that God has it under His control. We may never see chariots of fire, but we can by faith see our tough circumstances in the light of God’s power.

Open my eyes, LORD. I want to see Jesus.

Mark

VerseD: Psalm 32:8

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Psalm 32:8, ESV

God desires to teach us in how to live, and He has given us to primary sources:

  1. His Word (the Bible, but also Jesus),
  2. His Church.

Listen to both to live rightly.

VerseD: Colossians 3:23-24

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.
Colossians 3:23‭-‬24, ESV

Do you realize how central Jesus is to everything?

We not only serve for Christ, but in all we do we are serving Christ.

Whatever you did to the least of these you did to Me.” (Matthew 25:40)

VaerseD: 2 Timothy 1:9

who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began
2 Timothy 1:9, ESV

All Christians have the same calling: reconciliation with a fallen world through the making of disciples of Christ.

VerseD: John 15:7

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
John 15:7, ESV

Jesus is not promising a “Name-It-and-Claim-It” kind of wishful thinking.

Jesus is following through on what many other parts of the Bible, including His own words, promise: When your character is becoming so in tune with His and you are living by the Holy Spirit, then you will ask for things according to His will.

And then your requests will be given.

VerseD: 1 John 4:11-12

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
1 John 4:11‭-‬12, ESV

One of the signs you are a saved Christian is a love for the Church. Just as Jesus was rejected by His own people, we may deal with rude, obnoxious people, or even those who are mean and reject us.

But we still love them.
