VerseD: Psalm 105:23

Then Israel went to Egypt;
Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham.

Psalm 105:23, CSB

God is faithful, and He showed this in preserving Israel even through slavery as foreigners. Likewise, He is faithful to those who trust in Christ and live in a wicked world sharing the gospel until Christ’s return.

VerseD: Hebrews 4:13

And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Hebrews 4:13, ESV

God has prepared a rest for those who are cleansed by the blood of Christ, and He knows even the stains of sins we are unaware of. With our faith in Christ, as revealed by the Word, we can know we are clean with the hope of rest from fear, shame, and judgment.

VerseD: 3 John 11

Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.

3 John 11, ESV‬

When we do our own thing rather than follow our sovereign God’s will, it leads to pain and anxiety. When we follow His will, it brings peace, freedom, and hope in the imminent return of Christ.

VerseD: 1 Peter 4:10

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace

‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:10‬, ‭ESV‬

God has freed us from sin into love, and He gifts us with means to love one another in serving. We were made to serve each other.

VerseD: 1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

1 John‬ ‭4:18‬, ‭ESV‬

We are naturally under God’s wrath, but in Christ we are blessed with grace and freedom to love, knowing we are loved.

VerseD: 2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:17‬, ‭ESV‬

We tend to fall into habits and temptations that bind and control us, but God fills us when we believe in Christ, giving us freedom to serve Him and love others.

VerseD: Matthew 5:3

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 5:3, ESV

We must do the difficult thing of admitting we are wretched sinners to a holy God then we will find ourselves lamenting our condition. This is when we are free to receive God’s grace and forgiveness in Christ and find the full eternal freedom He offers.

VerseD: Psalm 34:4-5

I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.

Psalm 34:4‭-‬5, ESV

Our fear darkens our outlook on life and connection with God, and when we can admit our need for help, He puts His light in us and shows us hope and grace.

VerseD: Galatians 5:13

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

Galatians 5:13, ESV

God is free to do whatever He will, yet He chose to become one of us to save us with His love and grace.

We are set free from sin in Christ, so let us follow our Lord to choose to help others.

That’s right. I love religion, and I hate religion. One of the first sayings (not the first, mind you) I learned as a young believer in Christ was “I hate religion” because “It’s a relationship!” Everyone knows that religion is a trap that constrains all who practice from truly knowing God! Everyone knows that religion […]
