Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

All that goes wrong in this world, all of the people who are unfaithful and betray us, we know, because of prophecy and Christ’s resurrection, that God is faithful and will never leave us. With the promised seal of the Holy Spirit in us, we can hope for the future as we love out our faith today.
Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 55:22, ESV
When our faith is in Christ, God sends the Holy Spirit to show us that He can take all our worries and fears, that He can strengthen us and make us bold and resolute, faithful in His power.
But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
2 Thessalonians 3:3, ESV
God has told us through His Word how to defend ourselves against evil, and He also gives us help to be faithful by the Holy Spirit.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Psalm 32:8, ESV
In a world that says to follow your heart and do what feels good/right, God has shown us what the good and right way is. It is found in His Word, guided by the Holy Spirit who changes our hearts, and encouraged by faithful fellow Christians.
Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!
Psalm 31:24, ESV
We begin with praise for God, and then we see that we are able to face anything in this life, knowing He is with us, He has a plan, and He will fulfill His promises.
But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
Acts 20:24, ESV
God came as one of us to show what His love, grace, and faithfulness looks like – even to death on a cross for the forgiveness of sins.
Let us live faithfully in Christ’s faithfulness, following His example, to a fallen world.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
Psalm 100:5, NIV
Jesus showed He is our good and loving God, being faithful to the point of death on a cross and then raising Himself from the dead, granting us forgiveness and hope, showing He is worthy of worship.
Hot take?
I won’t lie: I have been tired of Pride Month for a couple of months already. As one source put it (I forget who said it originally), Pride Month is the new Christmas: it starts earlier and earlier, and all the businesses are in on it.
Unlike Christmas, though, the majority who celebrate it tend to demonize those who don’t.
Yes, some Christmas celebrants do that, and we have seen the Conservative backlash against the “War on Christmas”. But they are focusing on the wrong war, especially with the irony of the Conservative focus on freedom of speech (and personal choice).
Conversely, there are some Pride people who follow a more “live and let live” approach.
With Pride Month (which started in earnest with the Dylan Mulvaney Bud Light fiasco), the focus has always been “let us celebrate ourselves” as opposed to celebrating the birth of Christ. Yes, Christmas has largely become about getting what we want, but these two seasons started from polar opposite positions.
This is why I was happy to hear about a new option:
Prof. Robert George of Princeton University suggested that, rather than combating darkness, we focus on lighting candles.
As the name suggests, we focus on remaining faithful (Latin: fidelis) to the core values of commitment to God, spouses (one man and one woman), family (traditional nuclear family), community, and nation.
It’s not a radical idea. It used to be the basis for most people, especially in the West. Yet, even conservative people and groups are willing to compromise on some of these, often simply to refute and reject “the other side” or in a twist of libertarianism.
This is in fact biblical.
Look at Ephesians 5-6, 1 Peter 2-3, and many other passages that could be pulled up.
I say we start doing likewise, actually go out of our way to promote biblical values.
I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Psalm 119:11, ESV
The number one way the Holy Spirit speaks to us is through what has been written in the Bible, and He reminds us those words to help us remain faithful to God and His Word, pointing us to Jesus.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9, ESV
We are redeemed, but we still have a sinful nature. We have a faithful and grace-filled God who has forgiven us in Christ, so let us remain faithful to confess them as we continue forward.
