VerseD: Psalm 100:5

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Psalm 100:5, NIV

Jesus showed He is our good and loving God, being faithful to the point of death on a cross and then raising Himself from the dead, granting us forgiveness and hope, showing He is worthy of worship.

VerseD: Matthew 6:11

Give us this day our daily bread

Matthew 6:11, ESV

Jesus showed us He is our God, calling Himself the Bread of Life who provides all our needs.

Trust the Lord, and He will give us eternal life and all our other needs.

VerseD: Romans 8:18

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

Romans 8:18, ESV

Christ suffered for us, our God dying as one of us to forgive us and redeem us.

When we believe this, we know that any sufferings we have now will pale in comparison to eternity with Him.

VerseD: Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Hebrews 13:8, ESV

Jesus said He is God.

The rest of New Testament scripture affirms this.

Jesus is our God.

VerseD: Luke 6:35

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.

Luke 6:35, ESV

God showed His kindness to us by saving us when we were ungrateful and evil toward Him and each other.

Let us live by Christ’s example, knowing He has paid for others and we receive His grace and forgiveness. We expect nothing from them.

VerseD: Matthew 7:8

“For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”

Matthew 7:8, ESV

Jesus came to show us the way to God, and He invites us to seek Him and share Him.

May we offer the invitation to all people, that many more may find salvation in Christ.

VerseD: Matthew 9:37-38

Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Matthew 9:37‭-‬38, ESV

The Father sent the Son to save us, they send the Spirit to empower us, and they send us out to lead others to glorify God.

May we pray we are effective workers who make more workers for Christ.

VerseD: Galatians 5:13

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

Galatians 5:13, ESV

God is free to do whatever He will, yet He chose to become one of us to save us with His love and grace.

We are set free from sin in Christ, so let us follow our Lord to choose to help others.

I (Still) Love/Hate Religion.

On the holiday the USA celebrates freedom, how about a throwback to my first ever post on this blog 12.48 years ago (give or take). I took a look at the religion/relationship debate, and the implication is what our freedom in Christ means for us.

Daniel

That’s right. I love religion, and I hate religion. One of the first sayings (not the first, mind you) I learned as a young believer in Christ was “I hate religion” because “It’s a relationship!” Everyone knows that religion is a trap that constrains all who practice from truly knowing God! Everyone knows that religion […]

I Love/Hate Religion.

VerseD: Psalm 77:11-12

I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.

Psalm 77:11‭-‬12, ESV

We are horrible on our own.

Jesus is good, as He is God.

Jesus came to set the example for us, Love well, die unjustly, and raise to life again – to save us from our horribleness.

Let us love sacrificially to show God’s goodness to others.
