VerseD: 1 Corinthians 13:1

If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
1 Corinthians 13:1, NASB

We can be the smartest, most eloquent of speakers, but if we are merely trying to prove how much we know, win an argument, or correct all incorrect thinking apart from loving the person or people we are talking to …

… we are only making noise and not glorifying God.

VerseD: Galatians 5:14

For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Galatians 5:14 ESV

This is both the easiest thing to understand and hardest to do.

Loving others looks different with every person and situation, but it is commanded of us.

VerseD: Luke 6:35

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
Luke 6:35, ESV

Life is not about “me”. Life is about “them” to the glory of God.

The early Christians were known for their sacrifices for others.

VerseD: Luke 6:38

“give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
Luke 6:38 ESV

God’s grace and joy will flow over you as you forgive, show grace, and generally love on others.

VerseD: Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16, ESV

Our love for each other, care for others, and commitment to Christ will show people who He is, and they can only give glory to God if they are saved.

That means God uses you to reach the lost.

VerseD: 1 John 4:20

If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.
1 John 4:20, ESV

You must love others. If you belittle, shun, mock, abuse, ignore, mistreat, and/or generally act unkindly toward others…

… and you call yourself a Christian …

… you have made yourself a liar. The love of God is not in you.

Repent, and love.

VerseD: Romans 13:10

Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
Romans 13:10, ESV

The love of Christ in us is not merely sacrificial, it is selfless, considerate, patient, and truthful.

Yes, it can be difficult living all of this out. But, in many ways, it gets easier to understand and do as you love them.

VerseD: Matthew 6:3-4

But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Matthew 6:3‭-‬4, ESV

We are to do good things for others, but it is out of love for God and others. If we do good things to look good in front of others, then we are loving ourselves only.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 13:2

And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:2, ESV

It is not enough to seek spiritual gifts of any type if love for God and others (both, at the same time) is not driving the desire.

Seek God’s love and righteousness, and you will be amazed what God does through you.

VerseD: Psalm 63:3-4

Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.
Psalm 63:3‭-‬4, ESV

True life is found in the love of God.

Give God the Father thanks and praise for sharing His love through the vicarious death of His Son and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
