VerseD: Matthew 10:16

“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.”

Matthew 10:16, ESV

We are not merely to be doormats, but, knowing we have the power of God in us, we are ready to answer anyone who challenges or questions us about the Gospel.

VerseD: Psalm 103:13

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.

Psalm 103:13, ESV

We must realize we have rebelled against God and deserve His wrath, turning from sin and having His Holy Spirit change our thinking. Then we will find the immeasurable love and compassion of our Father in heaven.

VerseD: Matthew 7:7

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

Matthew 7:7, ESV

God wants to give us good things. Whenever we ask according to His will, we will receive. Sometimes He still gives, even when we don’t ask or don’t ask correctly.

He especially will give us when we ask for His glory, usually to share the Gospel.

The following are notes that I used for the sermon I preached at Bethlehem Baptist and taught on Discord.

Question: Do Ghosts Exist? (preached 10/24/2021 @ Bethlehem Bapt., Warthen, GA)

  • an apparition of a dead person which is believed to appear or become manifest to the living, typically as a nebulous image. – Bing.com
  • the soul of a dead person, a disembodied spirit imagined, usually as a vague, shadowy or evanescent form, as wandering among or haunting living persons. – dictionary.com

Are there SPIRIT beings? Yes.

Are there disembodied spirits of the dead roaming the earth, haunting houses, abandoned mental institutions, and cemeteries? NO.

VerseD: Proverbs 19:21

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Proverbs 19:21, ESV

We think we have complete control over our lives, but natural and man-made disasters, illnesses, and accidents remind us that we have very little control.

Knowing God is in control helps to calm us and be the calming help of someone going through one of those emergencies, for His glory

VerseD: James 1:19

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger

James 1:19, ESV

Do not assume you know what a person is thinking or where they are coming from. Everyone is more willing to talk when we are willing to hear.

Just as God hears His people, even though He sees our sin.

VerseD: Matthew 6:19

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal”

Matthew 6:19, ESV

Money and things are not bad, but they can distract us from the One who blesses us with those things.

Trust in God alone who can and does meet our needs.

VerseD: Psalm 23:6

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Psalm 23:6, ESV

Our God has shown us so much mercy and grace through the cross, and now we await eternity in His presence.

VerseD: Isaiah 64:8

But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.

Isaiah 64:8, ESV

Knowing that God is our Creator and the one who molds us should give us confidence that He knows what is best and how to guide our lives.
