VerseD: Exodus 14:14

“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
Exodus 14:14, ESV

We can learn from Israel escaping Egypt that God will defeat our enemies, and in fact He has. Primarily, He has defeated Satan and death, who will be destroyed after Christ’s return.

Apologist Norman Geisler Passed Away Today

I read some of Dr. Geisler’s books soon after discovering the term “apologetics”. I agree with the sentiments here, so I will simply reblog for my readers to enjoy.

VerseD: Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:33, ESV

We have no guarantee we will get everything we need in this life. Jesus promises us that if we seek His righteousness (realize the truth of Christ and obey Him), our ultimate needs are met, i.e. forgiveness of sin and eternal life.

But God also likes taking care of us in this life!

VerseD: Proverbs 2:8

[The Lord is] guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.
Proverbs 2:8, ESV

God takes care of His people, watching over every move we make. Ultimately, He is guiding us to eternity with Him, taking care of our souls on our journey to Himself. Trust in God.

VerseD: Philippians 4:6

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6, ESV

It can be hard to NOT worry in life. However, if we continuously draw near God through prayer and thank Him for everything in life – even the hard stuff – we will find His strength keeping us afloat and beyond worry.

VerseD: Colossians 3:13

bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Colossians 3:13, ESV

We are family by Christ’s blood. Sometimes family gets annoying and offend each other.

Get over yourself and love them fiercely. You may even be the offensive one!

VerseD: John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
John 14:27, ESV

When anxiety and fear start to weigh you down – the moment they hit your mind and heart – turn to Jesus. His Holy Spirit will guide you into the Father’s strong, loving arms and whisper “I have it under control. Trust Me.”

VerseD: Matthew 3:8

Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.
Matthew 3:8 ESV

This fruit is what is found in Galatians 5, but it is also to grow in godliness and to bring others along for the ride through sharing the Gospel and caring for each other.

What sinners want is not hell but sin

I often teach that people choose to go to Hell. What I mean by this is essentially summed up here: People choose their own sin over God. They choose separation from God, not understanding what this truly means.

Proverbs 10:30

“The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.”
It’s About Home

One of the hardest things a person can endure is the forced expulsion from one’s home. The pain and humiliation of being forced to leave the place where your ancestors lived, where your parents played, and where you planned for the future is a terrible thing. And it is especially hard when that home is not only taken away from you, but given to your enemies.

This verse is really all about having a home. It is about staying where one’s planted. It’s about security and peace. It’s about having a place where you belong.

It’s About a Promise

This verse also has to do with a promise that was made to the children of Israel. When Solomon penned (or quilled) these words, he was familiar with the promises and warnings…
