VerseD: Matthew 9:38

“Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.”

Matthew 9:38, CSB

Love should push us to pray for the lost and be willing to take the gospel to them

This Sunday: If your church has a church security team let the pastor know you are grateful

I am personally grateful for the security team, because for several months I was the security team, setup/teardown team (with occasional volunteers), and cleanup team. I also had to occasionally teach Kids Sunday School, help with A/V, and even preach. That does not make for strong security. We finally got a man who saw the need, got extra training, and now we have a good team in place. (We also have teams for everything else, though I help in several areas still.) I get updates and questions from the team, but I can sit more on Sundays. We certainly live in a dangerous world, but God is good and has His people equipped.

Daniel

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: If your church has a church security team let the pastor know you are grateful.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 13:4

Love is patient, love is kind. Love does not envy, is not boastful, is not arrogant

1 Corinthians 13:4, CSB

Love should push us to humility, patience, and compassion, seeking the best for others just as Christ did for us.

VerseD: John 10:10

A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.

John 10:10, CSB

God wants to give us all good things according to His will, while those who oppose God restrict, mar, and damage what should be good. God offers life and the ability to truly desire what is truly good and to promote goodness.

VerseD: 1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9, CSB

God wants to give us all good things according to His will, most of all the forgiveness, grace, and righteousness of Christ when we give Him our sins.

VerseD: John 15:12

“This is my command: Love one another as I have loved you.”

John 15:12, CSB

God wants to give us all good things according to His will, and His will is found in loving Him by loving others and especially loving the Church.

VerseD: Galatians 5:24

Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Galatians 5:24, CSB

God wants to give us all good things according to His will, and that begins by giving up our own desires for God’s will and desires, giving us a family in Christ and eternal peace and life to be shared with others.

VerseD: Romans 8:11

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then he who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through his Spirit who lives in you.

Romans 8:11, CSB

God wants to give us all good things according to His will, and that includes the hope of eternity and power to live for today.

VerseD: Matthew 12:50

“For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

Matthew 12:50, CSB

God wants to give us all good things according to His will, and that includes a family who is united in the love, grace, forgiveness, and Christ.

This Sunday at Church: Pray for the church’s prayer meetings ahead of time

We launched our Sunday “prayer corner” nearly three years ago, only the elders taking turns being the primary contact. A year and a half ago, we started a midweek prayer group. It actually took us a while to have this same thought as today’s exhortation. Today, our deacons lead the prayer corner with other volunteers, and midweek is facilitated by volunteers. (We elders still participate in both! I rarely make the prayer meeting due to youth group being at the same time.)

Pray for congregational prayer.

Daniel

For this Sunday here’s what you can do: Pray for the church’s prayer meetings ahead of time.
