VerseD: Romans 8:39

nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:39, ESV

God’s love is unconditional. Only those who put their faith in Christ are saved, but He loves each one of His creations.

Review – A Matter of Days – Chapter 7 (part 1)

What can a day bring?
It depends on who is doing the bringing.

And context. Crystal clear context.

Anchored in Scripture

I love the title of this chapter. As Christians, we should find solid footing for justifying morality, purpose, and doctrine. Now, let’s see what Dr. Ross has to tell us about being anchored in scripture

The opening paragraph reads:

Genesis 1 records a dramatic story: “within six days” God miraculously Transformed a “formless and void” Earth into a well-furnished home for humanity. He then created two human beings, male and female, to live there. How strange that in the awesome scope of this account the meaning of one word, “day,” should become the focus of ferocity. Is the length of a creation day 24 hours? Or can the word “day” refer to millions of years?

Speaking of “how strange”…how strange is it for someone to read the text of Genesis 1 and be struck with the reflection, ‘I wonder if the…

This Sunday at Church: Ask others what they read during the week

As a local leader, it is actually in my job description to do this. However, as a Christian, each of us is called to encourage each other in truth, and the best way is to make sure we are each reading our Bibles!

VerseD: Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12, ESV

God’s Word reveals our every and deepest sins and intentions, but it also reveals God’s endless love and grace for those who call on Christ’s name.

VerseD: Psalm 143:10

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
Psalm 143:10, ESV

The Holy Spirit regenerates our hearts and minds, and purifies our souls, that we may be saved from our sin and become more like the Son.

VerseD: Matthew 19:26

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Matthew 19:26, ESV

It is the power of God that saves us, by grace through faith. Nothing we can do, have, or give can get us closer to God. It is His gift.

VerseD: Isaiah 43:19

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:19, ESV

In Christ, we all have access to the Father through the Holy Spirit, who flows through us into the wilderness of this fallen, sinful world with Christ’s refreshing righteousness.

VerseD: Philippians 1:6

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:6, ESV

God has saved us, and we partner with Him to work out our salvation, consciously seeing him work in us to make us like Christ.

VerseD: Psalm 2:11

Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Psalm 2:11, ESV

We must remember that our God is holy and just, that He does not abide sin.

Yes, He has saved us through Christ, but we also work out our salvation with fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12) and examine and test yourself to see if you are in the faith (2 Cor. 13:5).

Then we can rejoice.
