Siblings often cause contention with each other. This is no different in the Church. Yet, Jesus has called us friend, because He is always with us.

VerseD: Proverbs 27:5

Better is open rebuke than hidden love.
Proverbs 27:5, ESV

Hiding truth is never the best. Love is expressed through words and actions, and it is better to know when something is wrong than to keep going in error.
Thus, we must know that we are wretched sinners in need of salvation, but God loves us so much that Jesus came to save us!

Micah 6:7, ESV

VerseD: 2 Timothy 2:15

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15, ESV

Do you know your Bible well enough to explain the Gospel, salvation, or why you believe what you believe?
Ignoring the Bible (or barely reading/studying it) is ignoring God.
Works apart from God’s Word is working in an unapproved manner. We love God through His Word and in deeds.

VerseD: 1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
1 John 4:18, ESV

First, we fear the wrath of God against our sin. Then, we stand in awe of the God who showed His love by sending His Son to die for the forgiveness of our sin.
Grow in the love that saved us!

VerseD: Psalm 51:1-2

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
Psalm 51:1‭-‬2, ESV

It is not any inherent goodness or hard work  on our part that God shows us His mercy and grace. It is entirely God’s love and works (through Jesus Christ) that we are made clean and found worthy of eternal life.
