VerseD: Galatians 1:10

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10, ESV

This may be the hardest part of being a Christian. We can get caught up in helping others more than serving Christ, making people feel better than leading them to Christ.

We should care for physical needs, but we should care more for spiritual needs.

VerseD: Hebrews 6:10

For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
Hebrews 6:10, ESV

Loving others is loving God. It is a huge part of how get to hear “Well done, My good and faithful servant.”

VerseD: Psalm 116:1

I love the Lord , because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy.
Psalm 116:1, ESV

God hears our prayers and wants to give us mercy.

We must also remember that He has said that He hears the prayers of those who love Him.

Seek God’ righteousness and His mercy.

VerseD: John 7:38

“Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.'”
John 7:38, ESV

The natural result of salvation is the outpouring of God’s love, compassion, and grace through you via the Holy Spirit of Christ.

VerseD: 2 Thessalonians 3:5

May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
2 Thessalonians 3:5 ESV

We cannot fully and consistently love others without the love of God filling us and flowing through us.

Especially when others have wronged us.

Or we disagree with them.

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 1:10

I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment.
1 Corinthians 1:10, ESV

When we are focused on Christ, everything else becomes relatively unimportant. We may disagree on some things, but we should agree on the foundational beliefs of Christ.

“They will know you by your love for one another.”

VerseD: 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
1 Corinthians 13:4‭-‬5, ESV

People can be stupid, it is true.

If you are easily irritated by or jealous of them, do you truly have the love of God in you?

Remember how patient, kind, and sacrificial He has been to you, and that will inspire love for others.

VerseD: 1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7, ESV

“Do not judge a book by its cover.”

Only God can judge a person’s heart. You may not know their circumstances or motivations. Therefore, treat all people the same, with God’s love and with wisdom.

“Treat others how you want to be treated.”

VerseD: Zephaniah 3:17

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
Zephaniah 3:17, ESV

By the Holy Spirit Christ lives within us. We join in the celebration of the redeemed, basking in the glory of the One who saves and loves us with gladness and singing.

As my mother-in-law says, happy people sing. And our heavenly Father is happy to save!

VerseD: Micah 6:8

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8, ESV

What many fail to realize about the Golden Rule (treat others as you want to be treated) is how deep this rule goes.

We know about pursuing justice and showing kindness and mercy to others, but without the humble acknowledgment of the need for God’s love and wisdom those are basically meaningless.
