The opposite of love is fear, and God became one of us to restore the relationship between humanity and God. We know we are His friends when we not only believe in Christ but trust that He will fulfill His promises in this life and for the next, being able to not fear but face all this lofe has.

Humanity tends toward evil, separating family and friends, but God came to us and conquered the evils of death, suffering, and separation through the cross. When we believe in Christ, He calls us His friends and empowers us to overcome evil, too.
