VerseD: 2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.

2 Timothy 1:7, CSB

The gospel is overcoming fear, hatred, and sin in the power of Christ’s blood and of the Holy Spirit through repentance, faith, grace, and love.

VerseD: Proverbs 16:9

A person’s heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps.

Proverbs 16:9, CSB

We need God. When we humbly submit ourselves to His will, there will be more peace and guidance in our lives.

The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything

Today is a special day in my life.

This weekend is the 40th anniversary of the day that Marty McFly traveled through time for the first time. (My favorite movie. 😉)

I also enjoy many other great stories about time travel and such, one of those being Douglas Adams’ “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” books and other media. Even though he was writing as an atheist who thought religion should be done away with, he was very witty and wrote well.

Within this story we discover that the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything is 42. (The question being discovered is part of the plot of the series.)

Today happens to be my birthday.

And it is special to me because I get to joke around that I am now the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.

However, I am aware of the greater truth:

John 14:6, CSB
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:15-17, CSB
If you love me, you will keep   my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be in you.”

I am not really the answer, but I have the answer living within me.

The Creator of Life, the Universe, and Everything lives in me and gives me life amd truth, and I must be ready to share this answer with all people.

Matthew 28:18-20, CSB
Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

1 Peter 3:15, CSB
but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.

VerseD: John 14:6

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6, CSB

We love the Church, for this is where Christ dwells by the Holy Spirit, and we share the Truth as the only Way to eternal Life as a collective Body for His glory.

VerseD: Romans 8:11

And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, then he who raised Christ from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through his Spirit who lives in you.

Romans 8:11, CSB

God wants to give us all good things according to His will, and that includes the hope of eternity and power to live for today.

VerseD: John 14:6

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6, CSB

Humble, sacrificial service out of love for God and others is the expectation for those who carry the name of Jesus, remembering that we do not save people. Only Christ is truly the way to eternal life and forgiveness. We just share Him with everyone.

VerseD: Romans 8:6

Now the mindset of the flesh is death, but the mindset of the Spirit is life and peace.

Romans 8:6, CSB

God is in control and cares for us, and through the Holy Spirit we are reminded of this and find peace and abundant life in any circumstance.

VerseD: 1 John 4:9

God’s love was revealed among us  in this way: God sent his one and only Son into the world so that we might live through him.

1 John 4:9, CSB

Only God can save us from our sins, and He showed His love for us by sending His Son to take our sins through His death on the cross and giving us life.

VerseD: Matthew 5:5

Blessed are the humble, for they will inherit the earth.

Matthew 5:5, CSB

We find hope and strengthened faith when we can admit our own weaknesses and failings, knowing we need Christ in every area of life and that we are no better than anyone else.

VerseD: Matthew 5:3

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.”

Matthew 5:3, CSB

We find hope and faith in knowing we are hopeless on our own, in trying to succeed in life or toward eternal life, but that God has saved us by His grace in Christ.
