VerseD: Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

God’s mercy is clear when children grow up and follow what good they learned from their parents.

God’s grace is clear when those children grow up and follow Christ.

VerseD: James 1:27

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

James 1:27, ESV

In His mercy, God overlooks our man-made attempts to please Him. In His grace, He showed is what is right.

We should seek His righteousness and show mercy and grace to those who most need it.

VerseD: Philippians 1:9-10

And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ

Philippians 1:9‭-‬10, ESV

God grants us His mercy to seek Him, and His grace that we may find Him and love Him.

Seek God. Grow in His love and wisdom, knowing Him more and what He desires for our lives in Christ.

VerseD: Matthew 6:33

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:33, ESV

God shows mercy to us by providing much of our needs when we are going astray, and He shows grace in giving more than we are aware we have needed, especially as we seek Him and find Hos forgiveness and love.

All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation

2 Corinthians 5:18, ESV

God has shown us mercy in not destroying us outright, and grace by reconciling us with Himself through the cross. Let us now  lead others to that mercy and grace.

Prayer for Youth Camp!

Our Youth Next Door is headed to Mixed JH/HS camp this week! It is our first “modern traditional camp”, with cabins and bunks and fun and other churches.

Please join me in praying for safety, lots of fun, and – most importantly – getting to know Jesus and to love God better.

We have a fantastic group of teens (and pre-teens!), so I expect God to do great things!

VerseD: Malachi 4:6

“And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”

It can seem the world is getting worse all the time.

Yet, God has called us to show His mercy by praying that He will draw fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, whole families together and to Him.

Pray God’s mercy and grace on our world and our hearts and minds.

VerseD: Luke 6:36

Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.

Luke 6:36, ESV

In our sin, we are slapping God in the face. He has every right to destroy us.

But He relents in His love us. Likewise, we should show mercy to those who mistreat, abuse, and are mean to us.

VerseD: 1 Timothy 4:12

Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

1 Timothy 4:12, ESV

Age means little in the Kingdom of God. We are all called to seek God, study His Word, live righteously in the power of the Holy Spirit, and bring others along in Christ.

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.

Nahum 1:7, ESV

Our world is a mess and scary, but God has given us peace and hope through Christ who has redeemed us and understands us. He holds us firmly in His hands.
