Regardless of what skeptics may say,  God has revealed Himself to us, through Scripture and by coming to live as one of us to bring truth and grace.

God became one of us to bring us grace, truth, forgiveness, and hope.

VerseD: Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

We can not earn or work our way to God. We either remain under God’s wrath or we accept His grace and forgiveness offered through Christ’s atoning work on the cross.

Our desires point towards our destination: are we more focused on what we can get or on Who provides for all our needs? Do we strive for wealth or for righteousness?

VerseD: Psalm 9:1-2

I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.

Perspectives matter. Yes, there are plenty of bad things in this life. There are also good and beautiful things provided by God, most especially His grace and mercy as found at the cross.

[Jesus] whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.

God’s mercy and grace are shown through not killing us immediately for our sins but coming Himself to take our punishment on Himself to save us who believe from His wrath.

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.

Just as Christ gave up His life and served others – we humans who killed Him – we ought to serve others sacrificially,  even those who mistreat us.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Because of our sin, we all deserve to die and face punishment. But God, in His loving mercy and grace, has saved us from our sin and given us the hope of eternal life through Jesus.

VerseD: Psalm 51:1-2

Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
Psalm 51:1‭-‬2, ESV

It is not any inherent goodness or hard work  on our part that God shows us His mercy and grace. It is entirely God’s love and works (through Jesus Christ) that we are made clean and found worthy of eternal life.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Seeking God is the only way to find true goodness and mercy, and Christ is the only source of eternal life.
