VerseD: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

2 Corinthians 1:3‭-‬4, ESV

Good doesn’t need to deal with the effects of sin, but He chose to come to us, shine His loving light of redemption, and comfort us in His grace and mercy.

Now, we can carry that light and comfort to this lost and hurting world in His name.

VerseD: Hebrews 13:16

Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.

Hebrews 13:16, ESV

Our God came to us to share His love, grace, and Presence with us, making it possible by sacrificing Himself in our place for our sin and rebellion.

May we follow Christ in sacrificially doing good for others, bringing them into knowledge and deeper relationship with Him.

VerseD: Philippians 2:3

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

Philippians 2:3, ESV

The God of the universe and our Creator who deserves all worship took on human flesh to die the death we deserve for the evil we have committed.

May we be willing to demean and suffer for the sake of others as our Lord did, leading others to find Him.

VerseD: Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20‭-‬21, ESV

God is the One who saves us from death and wrath against our sin, and He also provides for everything we need. We know this from His inspired Word, the Bible.

Seek out God, and trust in His Word.

VerseD: 1 Thessalonians 5:15

See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.

1 Thessalonians 5:15, ESV

Evil begets evil. Love and kindness cover and even wash away evil, like the blood of our Savior.

Love like Jesus, in truth and gentleness.

VerseD: 1 Timothy 2:5

For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

1 Timothy 2:5, ESV

Jesus is our God who put on flesh to stand in our place of judgment for our forgiveness.

VerseD: Acts 20:35

“In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Acts 20:35, ESV

Jesus is our God who gave us the example of giving without expectation (other than repenting and believing in [and showing we love Him by obeying] Him for the forgiveness of sins).

We find that true blessing of obedience when we love like Jesus.

VerseD: Luke 6:35

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.

Luke 6:35, ESV

God showed His kindness to us by saving us when we were ungrateful and evil toward Him and each other.

Let us live by Christ’s example, knowing He has paid for others and we receive His grace and forgiveness. We expect nothing from them.

VerseD: Galatians 5:13

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

Galatians 5:13, ESV

God is free to do whatever He will, yet He chose to become one of us to save us with His love and grace.

We are set free from sin in Christ, so let us follow our Lord to choose to help others.

VerseD: Psalm 77:11-12

I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your wonders of old. I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.

Psalm 77:11‭-‬12, ESV

We are horrible on our own.

Jesus is good, as He is God.

Jesus came to set the example for us, Love well, die unjustly, and raise to life again – to save us from our horribleness.

Let us love sacrificially to show God’s goodness to others.
