VerseD: Hebrews 6:17-18

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.

God has called us to go beyond the basic teachings of the gospel, to grow in the knowledge of who God is. There is no one beyond God, and He promised by His own eternal, immutable self that He would save us (done in Christ) and would come back for us (at Christ’s return), and no one can take us from His hand.

For people swear by something greater than themselves, and in all their disputes an oath is final for confirmation.

God has called us beyond the basic teachings of the gospel, and this includes knowing that God is the greatest of all. No one and nothing is beyond Him, and He has sworn by Himself that He will fulfill His promises in grace and truth. We would do well to learn as much as we can about those promises.

We are called to go beyond the basic teachings of the gospel, and this includes becoming more aware that there is no one greater than God. He has given us His love and grace, and we must live out that love and grace with the Church and the rest of the world for His glory.

And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

We are called to go beyond the initial teachings of the gospel, but we are called to remain faithful to those teachings, growing in love, grace, and truth and hoping in the promises of God.

VerseD: Hebrews 6:10

For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.

We are called to go beyond the initial teachings of the gospel and to go on loving others with more of God’s grace and love, serving the Church humbly and the world in truth.

VerseD: Hebrews 4:16

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

God has prepared a rest for us through Christ, and because of His life, death, and resurrection, we know we can approach God without fear and with hope for that rest from the pains and temptations of this life.

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

God gives commands according to His nature and our good. He makes us righteous when we believe in His only Son, the Wisdom of God who guides us.

God has many commands, and all are to His glory and our benefit. The command to rest is God’s grace of reminding us to relax and enjoy life and Him.

In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.

God came to us to give us grace and eternal life, and now He sends us out in the power of the Holy Spirit to share this love and life with others.

VerseD: 1 John 4:11

Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

1 John 4:11, ESV‬

God is omnipotent and omniscient, knowing all about us and our world, capable of changing hearts. He changes ours to be able to love each other, because He helps us love Him by His love.
