VerseD: Hebrews 4:9

So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God

God gives commands based on His nature and for our good. He has called us to rest, and in Christ we await full rest for our souls and eternity without laborious work. We now already tasked with inviting others I to that hope.

VerseD: Matthew 6:19

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal”

God’s commands are based on His nature and our good, and the best thing for us is to seek God and His ways. When we are His, we have hope and eternal security.

VerseD: Proverbs 23:24

The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice; he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him.

God gives commands according to His nature and our good. He makes us righteous when we believe in His only Son, the Wisdom of God who guides us.

VerseD: Psalm 143:10

Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

Our good God has called us to follow Him, and He not only shows th way but helps us each step by His Spirit.

VerseD: Colossians 3:23-24

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Colossians 3:23‭-‬24, ESV

With all the differing ideas in our world, we obey the command of God to “work and tend” the land. We don’t answer to people (though we should have answers). We work as worship to God.

VerseD: Deuteronomy 6:5

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

All of the Law and prophets hinge on this command. Indeed, nothing in this life matters if we do not love and glorify God.

VerseD: Deuteronomy 30:16

in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.

God expects love and devotion with perfect obedience. The great news for us is that He helps us with the power of His Holy Spirit and through the perfect sacrifice of His Son so that God sees the Son when He looks at us.

Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

The love of Christ in us is not merely sacrificial, it is selfless, considerate, patient, and truthful.

Yes, it can be difficult living all of this out. But, in many ways, it gets easier to understand and do as you love them.
