VerseD: Galatians 5:25

If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.
Galatians 5:25, ESV

Living by the Spirit means we will grow in love and self-control (along with all the fruit of the Spirit), serving others and glorifying Christ in all things.

VerseD: Matthew 22:37-39

And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37‭-‬39, ESV

What are God’s expectations for all people?

Love God with every bit of yourself, an love other people as if they are yourself.

VerseD: Colossians 3:12

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
Colossians 3:12, ESV

As a Christian, are you known for your compassion, kindness, humility, patience, and your ability to not be easily offended or thought stupid/ ignorant/gullible/foolish?

All of these can be hard, but especially in this current world we struggle with meekness.

VerseD: 2 Peter 1:3

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence
2 Peter 1:3, ESV

We have not been granted everything in this life that we may want or that may make us comfortable.

In Christ, we have all that we need to live Christ-like lives and inherit eternal life.

VerseD: Matthew 5:48

You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Matthew 5:48, ESV

One way to understand this is “to perform your function or purpose.”

Therefore, as God is sovereign over all and sustains all with power, love, and grace, we should be striving outdo each other in love and share the Gospel to the glory of God.

This Sunday at Church: Be Eager to Meet Church Members

Technically, our little church only just started official membership (and only the leadership team has signed the agreement!)
However, I know I get excited to see the people who show up Sunday morning. Yes, even those who … are not quite as easy to love. They have different perspectives, keep me on my toes theologically, and helped grow in Christ as I help them grow.
To quote Red Green, “We’re all in this together. I’m pullin’ for ya” fellow congregants.

VerseD: 1 Peter 1:24-25

for “All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever.” And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
1 Peter 1:24‭-‬25, ESV

The Word (Bible) tells us we are all destined for destruction, unless we follow and believe the Eternal Word (Christ) has shed His blood on our behalf and rose to life again to give us hope of eternal life.

VerseD: Romans 8:6

For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
Romans 8:6, ESV

If all you think about is worldly pleasures, problems, or passions, you may find yourself anxious, angry, or against God.

Maybe not in this life, but the only way to find the peace of eternal life is to listen to the Holy Spirit and focus and believe on Christ.

VerseD: Jude 1:20-21

But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
Jude 1:20‭-‬21, ESV

We were saved at the cross. Yet, we await the full salvation of our bodies and minds at Christ’s return. That mercy – the removal of all taint of sin from Creation – demonstrated in His love, will be like waking from a dream, even a nightmare, into glorious life.
