VerseD: Psalm 139:23-24

Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!

Psalm 139:23‭-‬24, ESV

Our God lives in us by the Holy Spirit, so He knows us intimately and more than we know ourselves. He works in us to make us more Christ-like, revealing our sinfulness and leading us in repentance.

VerseD: Romans 12:10

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.

Romans 12:10, ESV

Let us love like our Lord who came to us, served us, died for us, and helps us even now.

VerseD: Proverbs 16:3

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Proverbs 16:3, ESV

When we seek God, and He walks with us, our goals will be His goals, so we should have no fear of what happens. It is all for His glory.

VerseD: Galatians 1:10

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Galatians 1:10, ESV

We know God is with us, so we seek to please Him even if the rest of the world tells us to follow what seems good. We are open to corrections but it must align with Scripture and conscience in the Holy Spirit.

This Sunday at Church: Talk to someone about the Problems of Evolution

This is a regular conversation, especially at Youth Group. We just discussed how evolution has led us to think we can know better than our predecessors in everything, even the people who literally walked with Christ. There are many issues that are rarely dealt with in public or refused to be acknowledged. True science leans into questions.

This Sunday at Church I want to encourage you to do the following: Talk to someone about the Problems of Evolution. February 12th is actually Question Evolution Day which happen to fall on a Sunday! But talking to someone about the Problems of Evolution could also be done on any Sunday.  And given how the […]

VerseD: Psalm 139:10

even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.

Psalm 139:10, ESV

No matter what we go through, our God is right there with us, caring for us and protecting us.

The Benefit of Darkness

And let’s remember that heroes of the faith went through dark times, like Elijah, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, and Paul the Apostle.

Some people will insist that a Christian should never go through a dark time in his life. The idea is that “joy unspeakable” should empower a perpetual smile even in the middle of imminent doom.

What’s more, it’s the people in the Church who most often criticize the discouraged and depressed, treating them like whatever is bothering them could not be bad enough to challenge their faith, that is, if their faith was genuine.

It doesn’t help, either, when the rest of the world’s problems are weighed in the balance with ours. It’s like, “There are people being burned alive for their faith and you’re having a spiritual identity crisis?” It’s no different than saying, “If you think YOUR pain is bad, you should feel MINE.”

There’s songs and sermons galore about persevering through the storms of life and coming out stronger on the other side. There’s even much talk…

VerseD: Jude 1:20-21

But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

Jude 1:20‭-‬21, ESV

We have no fear of this world or death as we seek the love of God through faith, growing more into the Christ-likeness we are called to as we await our full redemption in eternity.

VerseD: Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Ephesians 4:29, ESV

We don’t have to fear what we sat if we’re in the habit of speaking well, and we have the Word to guide us.

VerseD: Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12, ESV

We fear what others may say or do to us, but God’s Word can cut much deeper and reveal more about us than anything or anyone in this world. But He also can heal and restore us better than any other.

Let us trust in Him.
