VerseD: Mark 3:35

“Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

Mark 3:35, CSB

We have been adopted into God’s family by the blood of Christ, and we join in the work of God to reconcile this world together with Him.

VerseD: 1 Peter 3:15

but in your hearts regard Christ  the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.

1 Peter 3:15, CSB

The message has not changed, so may we focus on our holy, perfect, loving, grace-filled Savior and God, sharing the good news of the salvation He offers and why we can trust Him.

VerseD: John 1:14

The Word became flesh and dwelt  among us. We observed his glory,  the glory as the one and only Son  from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:14, CSB

The story has not changed: God loves us and came to us in the person of Jesus of Nazareth, bringing truth, Grace, and forgiveness to humanity.

VerseD: Colossians 3:1

So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Colossians 3:1, CSB

The message has not changed, that Jesus Christ is truly God and truly man, that He died for us and rose again, and that He ascended and sits at the right hand ofnthe Father. May we seek and seek to share His glory and goodness every moment.

VerseD: John 14:1

“Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.”

John 14:1, CSB

The message is the same: True peace – peace with God, peace in our hearts, peace with others – comes through Christ alone. Our faith in Him brings peace.

VerseD: Matthew 5:3

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.”

Matthew 5:3, CSB

The message has not changed, knowing that we are unable to do anything good enough to earn eternal life, but God in His goodness and grace has made a way for us through His Son, Jesus.

VerseD: Acts 1:8

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Acts 1:8, CSB

The message has not changed, and we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to be Christ’s witnesses to the world, proclaiming His death, resurrection, ascension, and imminent return.

This Sunday at Church: Pray for a church you know who lost a pastor this year

I know many churches this year that lost a pastor due to death, burnout, or sin. It has been tough.

Let us pray for those churches and those families.

VerseD: Micah 6:8

Mankind, he has told each of you what is good  and what it is the Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8, CSB

Micah re-worded the two greatest commandments of loving God and loving others. The message has not changed, only that God became human in the person of Jesus to show us what it means.

Ministry Travels lesson: Forced to live in Prison Restroom but privileged to preach the Gospel

In the West, we are not as aware of what persecution against Christians is like. Pastors get comfortable, congregants are often apathetic (largely due to ignorance), and and non-regular attenders and non-Christians rarely care enough about to if they know of it to check. Many in our culture may even come across disagreement or inconvenience and think faith is not worth it.

Extreme persecution still happens. When people are so desperate for Christ that they willingly face violence and hatred but we prefer to stay comfortable, it shows the disparity as well as why Jesus said it is so hard for the wealthy to enter the Kingdom (Matthew 19:16-29; Mark 10:17-30; Luke 18:18-30). Even most of our poor and homeless are better off than half the world.

Let us pray for Jimmy’s work and that the pastors and others he teaches remain faithful and strong in the Lord.
