What do you say when you speak?

Is what you say uplifting and wholesome or tearing down and frivolous?

VerseD: Isaiah 12:2

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
Isaiah 12:2, ESV

Is this true for you today? Is God your salvation, through faith in Jesus Christ? Do you still fear death or the worries of life?

Job made a covenant with his eyes, and many limit what they eat. But God reminds us everything we look at, listen to, and think about affects the heart (and mind and soul). What we allow in and dwell on affects our thoughts, beliefs, and actions.

When Paul wrote his epistles (letters), he was drawing on God’s Word (our Old Testament).

In Christ, we no longer fear death, punishment for sin, nor anything this world may do to us, for He has overcome.

Our hope, joy, and peace are all found in Christ through the Holy Spirit to the glory of the Father.

It is tough living with and loving other people. We can get on our nerves, and we are brothers and sisters in Christ.

Yet, Christ calls us friends. We must love each other, but His love should flow through us.

Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray.
Proverbs 10:17, ESV

Obedience is more important to God than most anything. Rejecting His leadings and law is not only dangerous to you but compounded as you lead others to disobedience.

VerseD: Jeremiah 31:3

the Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.
Jeremiah 31:3, ESV

Just as Israel walked away and God – through disciplining them in the wilderness and then the Exile – was faithful and brought them home, He may discipline us to drive out our sin and make us more like Christ.

Christ is the only way to God and eternal life, and that is the only way to find peace and joy that not only endure but will last eternally.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.
Philippians 4:4, ESV

The Lord has done great things for you! Rejoice!

Just as Christ suffered for your forgiveness, you may suffer in this life. Rejoice!

He is in control, and He uses all things for His glory and the good of His Church.
