People may know we’re Christians, but they may not understand the difference between repentance and hypocrisy. May we be a people who truly seek God to change us and bring us to repentance.

VerseD: Galatians 2:20

‭I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

How can we go on loving our sin when Christ died for those sins and now lives in us? Let us cling to our Savior and seek His love and grace in every area of our lives.

VerseD: 2 Peter 3:9

The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.

Jesus has called us to salvation, and He has called us to share this salvation with others. Sometimes, we’re ready for the end to come, but He is waiting until we have carried His gospel to everyone.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

The Light of the world came to us, and when we believe in Him and His work on the cross He dwells in us to make us more like Him every day.

VerseD: Matthew 5:6

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

Matthew 5:6, ESV

Righteousness is not our default but rather selfishness. When the Holy Spirit helps us override our natural desires to seek Christ, we find that God is what our souls truly craved all along, and He gives of Himself more than we can comprehend.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

We like to think we are basically good or can earn a place in heaven, but it is only by faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus that we get there.

VerseD: Joel 2:12‭-‬13

“Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.

We may fail and fall away, but the Spirit of God draws us back into repentance, faith, and love.

VerseD: Psalm 51:11-12

Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

We may stumble and even fall away for a time from God’s perfect standard, but as Christians we can never lose the Holy Spirit, only the fruit of the Spirit. May we quickly repent and be restored to peace and joy.

Our God lives in us by the Holy Spirit, so He knows us intimately and more than we know ourselves. He works in us to make us more Christ-like, revealing our sinfulness and leading us in repentance.

VerseD: Colossians 3:13

bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

We can accept the repentance of others, but sometimes we might be waiting when we should be the one to Repent.

Let us be quick to forgive, knowing God has forgiven us, even for things we may not be aware we are guilty of doing. Likewise, others may not be aware of the pain they cause.
